Certificate in extended feeding techniques (PEG) (RQF LEVEL 3)

Our PEG feeding training will raise awareness and familiarise staff with the various types of PEG feeding and medication administration techniques including the use of machines, ensuring staff have sufficient knowledge to work safely with them.

Assessment:

Learners must complete a theory session taught by a trained nurse and supporting workbook. This together with assessment in practice area required to pass.

Course content:

  • Understand anatomy and physiology in relation to extended feeding.

  • Understand extended feeding techniques. 

  • Understand legislation and agreed ways of working when using extended feeding techniques. 

  • Be able to manage risks relating to extended feeding. 

  • Be able to prepare for extended feeding. 

  • Be able to carry out and complete extended feeding techniques. 

  • Be able to maintain records and report on extended feeding. 

    We work in partnership with TQUK to offer our learners a range of vocational qualifications under the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This is the way of recognising achievemnet through the awarding of credits for qualifications and individual units.

    Taking this approach provides a more flexible route to gaining qualifications and enables you to progress in smaller steps through the accumulation of credit.
