The Role of the First Aider

The first aider provides immediate care to those who are injured or ill, aiming to prevent the situation from worsening and ensuring safety until professional help arrives.

Communication and Casualty Care

Effective communication and casualty care involve reassuring and supporting the injured person, assessing their condition, and delivering appropriate first aid treatment.

Resuscitation (CPR) - Adult with AED

Performing CPR on adults involves chest compressions and rescue breaths, and an AED should be used as soon as available to help restore a normal heart rhythm.

Bleeding Minor & Severe

Managing bleeding involves applying direct pressure to the wound, using sterile dressings to control blood loss, and keeping the injured person calm and still.

Choking - Adult

To assist a choking adult, use back blows and abdominal thrusts to dislodge the object, ensuring to call for emergency help if the blockage does not clear.

Minor Burns

Understand how to treat minor burns by cooling the affected area and covering it appropriately while monitoring for any signs of shock.

Seizures

During a seizure, keep the environment safe for the casualty by moving dangerous objects away, cushioning their head, and monitoring breathing until the seizure ends.

How are you assessed?
