Mental health is being talked about more and more but how much do we really know about it? The aim of this course is to increase your awareness of mental health and equip you with the knowledge and skills to support your own mental health and the mental health of the people closest to you in your professional and personal life.
Learners will engage in a range of activities including case studies, self-assessment, group discussions and individual reflection.
To create awareness we must first define what we are working with. This course is designed to encourage you to think about the concept of mental health (however you define it) and how it relates to your life. We will challenge some of the conventional thinking on this topic and generate ideas for a holistic, person-centred approach to mental health.
You will learn how interconnected mental and physical health are, how interconnected we are as humans and how connected the concept of mental health is to the broader political, societal, cultural, relational and physical environments we live in.
